Program Manager - Early Career Dev

The Manager, Early Career Development oversees early career programs such as: Summer Internships, Local Rotational Graduate Program and the Global Graduate Program. The Manager, Early Career Development will work across the Talent Management team to understand the developmental needs of emerging leaders and meet those needs with innovative, relevant, business-driven programs. The incumbent will collaborate with business leaders to ensure alignment with business goals and with the Talent colleagues to ensure alignment with the overall talent strategy and desired employee experience.

The position is in Orange, CT with occasional travel.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner closely with the Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, DE&I, HR Business Partners and business leaders to ensure the early career strategy aligns with and supports business goals.
  • Conduct needs analysis as appropriate – develop an in-depth understanding of the developmental needs (technical and soft-skills), career progressions and challenges of employees in each program. Collaborate with business leaders to ensure business alignment, buy-in, and support.
  • Plan, lead and support professional development activities throughout the program, working with a third-party vendor to provide development offerings as part of each program.
  • Work with managers in development planning and rotation planning for each participant in a rotational program, ensuring projects/tasks are aligned with appropriate skill level and development need.
  • Develop conversion strategy for internship program, focused on maintaining relationships with interns throughout university and through graduation, ensuring they select AVANGRID as their destination of choice.
  • Partner with the business leaders and HR Business Partner to forecast workforce needs and develop workforce plans.
  • Identify key performance indicators, measures and reports results for programs 
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and Communications in the attraction and recruitment for early career programs for staffing for events as well as promotional materials.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, 5+ years of experience in program management or project management in HR
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work across several functions
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with collaborative work style
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent active listening and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills, as well as personal organizational skills

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working in a global organization balancing collaboration and coordination between global and local initiatives, best practices, and recommendations
  • 5 + years’ experience managing development programs – work samples may be requested
  • Experience working with Early Career talent
